   Surprised I like it as much as I do, working with kids in therapy. It really helps kids see that challenges come up in life and you have to continually find ways to deal with them. Kids seem to like the game.

   The game was easy to set up and the students were able to share how they would use the skills in their own lives. They enjoyed building the bridges. My students were able to use their decision maling skills as well as learning and practicing new coping skills.

   This a great game for helping children with anxiety; however I payed full price for a game that has clearly been used. Perhaps the seller thought I wouldn’t notice the damaged box and rubber bands around the cards?

   This is one of my favorite games to play in therapy sessions with anxious kids and even kids with other issues who can benefit from learning different techniques to control strong feelings. Kids enjoy the process of building the bridge, and it gives them a nice sampling of coping skills including guided imagery, muscle relaxation, self-talk, distraction through activities, expression of feelings, and thinking through solutions. I’ve played this with children ranging in age from 7-14 (probably most ideal for about 8-12 year olds) and it has been a nice tool to help kids choose which strategies they think may be most helpful and that they are willing to practice and try out.

   I work with children in a therapy setting and often use games to build rapport and t teach basic coping skills. I I was very pleased with the Bridge Over Troubled Waters, less for the structure of the game itself although it does engage children, but more with the abundance of self calming and relaxation skills presented on the cards , both cognitive alternatives to worries and behavioral skills to be used to fend off anxiety. I use he cards and integrate them into other activities. The sheets for the rushing waters are only a oneply print and I may glue them to cardboard to make them last longer. Other than that I get a lot of use out of this litle box.
