Friends and I have become obsessed with this game. A simple card game that is incredibly fun for both die hard and casual comic fans. We spend hours playing (one game is 45-60 minutes, so we’re playing multiple games!). Easy to learn. Best part about deck-building games is that unlike other card games, it is not who has the most money to buy the best cards that wins, but actually strategy as all players start on the level. Each player takes on the role of a superhero. Each superhero card has a certain bonus based on certain cards in the main deck, giving each player a plan on how to build the deck if one so chooses.

My wife and I have been playing this game quite a bit and we really like it a lot. The cards are dynamic and each playthrough is different. We don’t love that we are pitted against one another since a lot of deck building games are work together activities but this one does a good job of not making the game too competitive but mostly just fun. I like being able to be one of the super heroes instead of like legendary where you are an agent of shield collecting heroes. This is a bit more fun and we really enjoy it.

This game is a lot of fun and the art work is awesome. I like that you can choose a character to be, but sometimes their abilities don’t always help you. I also have the Marvel Legendary deck building game. They are both fantastic and I would really recommend both, if you are looking for more deck building games. I would compare DC Comics Deck Building Game more to Ascension but of course having the comic book theme to it like Legendary has. Since I had played other deck builders, this one wasn’t hard to pick up on. If this would be your first deck builder, or you would be teaching a lot of friends that are new to the deck builder games, this one does a good job of avoiding too much confusion. It also has enough to it that makes it a good strategy game and leaves you wanting to start another game once it’s over.

I’ve been in love with this game and getting all the expansions. It can be hard to learn especially with addons adding more and more rules and if you add all these packs games can last a long tim. This is a classic deck builder game (if you are familiar with them) and it is very easy to learn. I would say it’s a must for people who like the “Dominion” series of games AND who are comic fans (especially DC comic fans). It takes much less time to set up than Marvel Legendary (by Upper Deck), which is another great game. There are a couple of expansions out for this game as of the time of this review and all of them are worth picking up (Crisis is my favorite because it can turn this into a cooperative game, rather than player vs. player).

Having never played a deck-building game before, but familiar with collectable card games and the like, I was VERY pleasantly surprised by this game. Initially I had some misgivings as I’d watched some videos to learn how to play the game, but as a dad with a young son and very little time, this game is great both in the fact that it doesn’t take long to set up or play, but it is REALLY fun.
Additionally it isn’t very complicated, and my 11-year old son picked the game up quickly. We had a great time playing our first game, and look forward to getting the expansions in the coming weeks!

This game is so much fun that we’ve played it quite a lot in the short time we’ve had it. The gameplay is smooth and after a few plays it flows without needing to refer to the steps. It is easy enough for anyone without deck building experience to get into. I would almost give this 5 stars except for the fact that we felt we had to get one of the expansions to make it a bit more interesting. Still, can’t wait to get this to the table again!

After picking up the Rivals: Batman vs Joker mini-game, my next stop was this, the main DC Deck-Building game. Friends of ours had introduced us to it, and after the very first game I knew it was going to be a gateway drug to this product range. Easy to learn and challenging to master, the Cryptozoic engine-based game is equally good for two or four players. It can be scaled down to suit two players by reducing the number of villains that you have to confront in order to win. A lot of the DC Universe stalwarts and fan favorites are here, along with various playable super powers, equipment, and locations. There’s a lot of replayability to just this core set, but if seeing the same cards over and over gets a little stale, there are plenty of expansions available to broaden things out a little bit. Just the thing for DC fans to while away an hour or two. Highly recommended.

We all love this game. Our kids are 5, 6, and 8 and they not only understand how to play this game but they are able to strategize and can win. The images on the cards are definitely what gives this game a rating of 15+. Our kids have never seen any of the movies or read any of the comics but they are familiar with the super heroes through Lego and our enjoyment of the DC Universe. The game took me one full game of play to fully understand and enjoy, but I’ve also never played this kind of game before. My kids and husband picked it up much quicker. It has quickly become a preferred game in our house. I definitely recommend this game.
