Set came with some fun cards and a lot of basics. Came way ahead of schedule which was awesome. 100% would use the seller again.

I am brand new to the actual magic the gathering card game and this was a fantastic buy for me I thought. Simply put, If you are just starting out in Magic there is no better value than in this toolkit. It gives 100 lands, 125 semi-randomized cards, and booster packs from return to ravnica, gatecrash, m13, and m14, also give you a nice box to store cards, dice, and sleeves in. I didn’t getting nothing amazing from the booster packs, but it is always fun to open packs. Now on to the actual deck building, and I think it is so fun to build decks. I spent a good 3-4 hours just making decks for fun. In the end, also using the m14 intro deck, I made a killer red-white-green agro deck. Also if you buy this I recommend to get card sleeves(best are dragon shield) and a deck box(ultra-pro) for your deck.

My boy wanted me to get into Magic with him, so I decided to get a leg up and get the Deck Builder’s Toolkit. It is exactly what is advertised. A whole bunch of cards, enough land to support your choice of build, some decent cards and not too many duplicates. Instructions are included which is good for beginners (like me) and strategy hints help more experienced players (like my son). It’s a fun way to get a better deck without buying lots of booster packs, but nothing spectacular about it.

I agree with almost everything written about the 185 “semi-random” cards and the lands. They are a collection of middle of the road cards that will let new players work on deck-building skills. You can learn a lot about Magic: The Gathering and have a lot of fun if you have these cards and a couple of pre-constructed decks. However almost everyone ignores that this box comes with 4 boosters. Boosters are $4.00 at my local gaming store, and rarely less than $3.00 apiece even on line. So if you are going to ever buy a handful of boosters, just buy this set. I paid $17.25, with free shipping. By my calculations that means I got everything OTHER than the booster packs for about $3.25.
