My nine year old got Munchkin with a gift card. This version was advertised on the box so I got it for a Christmas gift. I have played the first Munchkin a lot, and I remember thinking it was funny, but after a while you know all the jokes. This version is funny too, and it will remind you how humorous Munchkin is.
Munchkin is a good game for kids and adults because it is not too complicated for kids, but it has enough things going on that it holds kids attention. It’s quick to set up and it is funny in a way that won’t offend anybody. Some of the jokes go over kids heads. This version is full of parodies of end of the world movies or stories. If you laugh at cheesy Science Fiction movies or Doomsday Preppers and you want a light, casual game this is a good choice.

This is easily one of my favorites, if not my top pick for Munchkin. Like all other versions, the game play is the same, however Apocalypse adds in seals to the game. In short, they typically make life harder for the players, but add a level of challenge and complexity. It also makes another way to win- if seven seals get opened, the game ends and players are forced to count up their bonuses to determine a winner. On top of the seals, the cards are top notch. I would highly recommend this if you have already played or already own a Munchkin game. I would recommend starting out with the original version if you’re a first timer. This is not to say you should not get it for your first game, but I think the original is a nicer transition into the Munchkin world. My opinion of course!
As a point of reference, I currently own the following Munchkin versions: original (obviously a top pick), Legends, Apocalypse (top pick), Cthulhu, Zombies (top pick), Star Munchkin, The Good, The Bad, and The Munchkin, Munchkin Booty (top pick), Pathfinder, and Munchkin Impossible.

I own a lot of the Munchkin games, which me and my friends play on and off.
Munchkin Apocalypse is now my new favourite. Well designed cards and the artwork from JK is amazing. The gameplay is still standard but with an addition of the new Seal cards. These add a unexpected element that makes for a more tactical game.
I will be buying the expansion!

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend after he very much enjoyed playing the Original Munchkin game and wanted a change. It came very quickly and was at a good price – lots of fun has already been had playing this version of the Munchkin game.

I’m not a typical or regular board game player, and this is definitely something I would previously have passed on – however this game is tons of fun!
I was persuaded to give this a go for the holiday period by a family member and so bought it.
It did initially seem a bit of boring to get into as the rules are so long and many, however once we got through this initial section the fun started.
The game can be played by just 2 people but I would recommend 4-6 people.
The aim of the game is to reach level 10. You can do this by working together or by ganging up on other players to get them out of the game.
Think of a more adversarial version of monopoly!
I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting some fun,

The addition of the seal rule makes this game way different than the other munchkins. In the three times I’ve played a player has yet to win by lvls. there are a lot of high bonuses, but you need them to beat the monsters that gain a plus 1 for every seal and play and also gain strength through the seals continuing affects. Most of the monsters also do not have the will not pursue you clause if you are at a lower lvl. Their are also a lot of good items in this one, and the addition of vehicles which are nice. This game also does only have classes, so no races, factions, accents to help you out. The sheep impact exp is also a great addition.
All in all this is an exciting unique yet still the same fun munchkin gameplay. games also can go faster than the original. I own the original, pathfinder, and apocalypse, and it would be difficult for me to decide on which one I like more. Although these three are more fun to me than the star and booty box sets.

This is fantastic, and one of the best of the Munchkin series imho (second maybe to Cthulu). The cards are well balanced, and the gameplay can last a while, even with only a few players. I am looking forward to purchasing the expansion to this (although I wouldn’t bother with Mars Attacks)
