NOT ONLY FOR “BEGINNERS”! They missed the mark with the marketing- this isn’t just for people who don’t know how to play. It’s great for when you need a break from super competitive EDH, modern etc...great singles if you want to just crack the box, but that’s not the best use for it. AWESOME product. I recommend buying this if you want to actually PLAY jumpstart how it was intended. I purchased reusable packs so I could sleeve the packs and keep them in a “cube”. It’s worked out very well, and is a great time. The only negative- there is some duplication. In two boxes, I had I believe 5 devilish, 4 predatory, 3 well-read....however the duplication can go either way. I pulled 3 reanimate (with reanimate as the rare), 3 selvalas etc. Best pulls from this box were a tiny bones and muxus. I’ve pulled most of the expensive packs within 48 packs/2 boxes. IMO jumpstart is super underrated. Please do not pay over 150 a box if you can help it. My first purchase a month or so ago was 160 with shipping, this one was 130-ish wiith expedited shipping. The supply is low, but I hope more is produced. Enjoy!!
Excellent packs, good cards, not get The Magicians, but get the Magicians Souls + Liquid Hero, so lucky. 5 ultra rare cards, about 8 super rare
Northguard is a 2 to 5 player 4x (Explore, Expand, Exploit, Exterminate) board game with an emphasis on combat. The quality here is top notch--the color's really pop, the counters are thick and easy to read, and the miniatures are detailed too. Also, as you can see in the photos, the built-in storage is also well thought out. So how does it play? Once you get the rules down the turns are pretty streamlined. The only thing I really had issue with rule wise is that when you lose a battle and retreat you can scatter like the wind. This can be problematic as it almost rewards losing. This is easy enough to fix though, we just house ruled that if you invade and are repelled you get kicked back to ONE of the territories you started from. This adds a little more risk to the fight if you were to lose it. As I mentioned this game is highly combat focused. Which isn't a bad thing, just know your audience if you want to pick up a copy for your family and/or gaming group. Another thing to mention is that while there is card drafting (a nice touch btw!), it is random. In the pictures taken while playing green ended up drawing very few tiles with food. Which granted, this also encourages you to fight, explore, and push out, they also got two of the creatures fairly quickly (optional components included in the core box!). Is this bad? No, but bear in mind that if RNG hates you on a particular day it may be a quick game! Thankfully the games do not take too long to get through, there is a built-in timer (7 turns) that will end the game if you don't hit the objectives (3 large buildings in complete territories. There are rules included to extend the time (10 rounds), but I think the standard 7 will provide enough for most players. All in all, I like it. It's shorter/less time to prep than some of my coffin boxes (looking at you Rune Wars!), but it offers us a quick PvP centric 4x.
Looks like all the packs got opened and good cards taken out replaced with complete garbage best card value I got was like $20 complete trash box what a bunch of bull this person is terrible buy else where all the spots for good cards was replaced with more trash. All the packs looked like this sucks. Should get zero stars for being a thief and steeling from people who enjoy he game
I was super excited on finding and receiving my order. But once I received my order and opened the white box from the vault: angels was not inside. Inside belonged to another from the vault, from the vault twenty. Which is not the same in value or cards.
I preordered this box about a week ago, i was very happy because it was shipped the night before the set was supposed to come out and arrived on the 25th, the release day for the set. The box it arrived in was in good condition and the set box was in good condition, the box topper card was bent so when I removed the box topper card it was more than a little curved. Excellent quality minus the box topper being bent, shipping time was amazing.
Was eagerly anticipating this package because it looks really cool. The cards you get are great BUT the box they came in was broken upon opening the package. Opened the bag it came in and the box fell apart in pieces.
4 cornersof the box are damaged and frayed. Not ideal for a gift.
So PRETTY!!! A little bit tinier than I thought, but I am used to mtg dice. This if my first set of 7. The color is lighter in person than my photo, but not quite as light as the original photo. A couple nicks in the copper but not too noticeable.
I bought this as a gift and am not familiar with magic cards. The pictures show a box and die that come with this - I received 10 individual foil packs in a shipping envelope with nothing else... not sure which part of this contains "accessories" like the description says.
Great game. If you are new to Magic: The Gathering this a great place to start. If you are seasoned Planeswalker this is fun with all the extra components. The only thing missing is the spinddown life counters (D20). That is why this is not a five star review. Everything you need in a cool box to start your search for the golden city of Orazca while defeating your opponents except the twenty sided dice. For those new to MTG the D20 is how you keep track of your health during a game. Keep on playing.
I pulled awesome cards from that box ! Scalding Tarn and Gideon!! I'll totally buy another box
The package was a bit disappointing but thank goodness the cards weren't damage from what I can see.
Every single pack in this box was damaged in some way. Some packs were folded so badly the cards are starting to break. Almost all cards have crease marks in them. Any high value cards I open will be worth nothing thanks to the damage. The kidzgeek.com box it came in was perfectly fine with no damage. So the damage had to be caused by the seller. Will never order this way again. Unacceptable!
Did a test on a common Trainer card and Japanese Pokemon cards have a blue line, unlike english cards which is black. Just wanted to let everyone know the cards I got arrived unharmed, real, and got a few good pulls.
